What Type of Cameras are best for your Home?
WIRED VS WIRELESS CAMERAS
We always recommend wired cameras when possible. Reasons for this:
- Wired cameras are more reliable and not subject to WiFi instability
- Wired cameras can handle 4K picture quality (much better than wireless)
- Wired cameras are physically better quality
- Wired cameras record to a hard drive at your home with no monthly fee
- Wired cameras do have a higher upfront cost
It is not always possible to run wires for cameras on finished homes. For that reason, we also offer wireless cameras. We have chosen to partner with Ring for our wireless cameras.
Wireless cameras still need to be plugged into a power source. There are battery powered cameras from Ring, but the cold Canadian weather dramatically reduces the battery life and for that reason, we will not install them.
Wireless cameras also require decent WiFi in each location they are to be installed. If the WiFi in the camera location is too low, you have the option to upgrade your WiFi for an additional fee or chose an alternate camera location.
