Important Info for Your Audio System

WHAT IS AN AUDIO SYSTEM?

An audio system built into your home consists of in-ceiling speakers, an amplifier and some technology to make it easy to play music on those speakers.  We offer our clients two systems: Sonos and Control4.  Both have similar features/controls and are similarly priced.  Sonos functions better as a stand alone system and Control4 shines a little more when a part of a Control4 home automation system.

HOW IS THE MUSIC IN THE ROOMS PLAYED OR CONTROLLED?

For most people these days, using your smartphone or tablet is the primary way to play or control the music.  Both systems offer the ability to control the music from keypad buttons near the light switches in the room.  Control4 does offer the added benefit of having 8 or 10 inch wall mounted screens to view playlists and select the music you want which can be much more convenient if you don’t have your smartphone handy.

PLANNING OUT YOUR HOME AUDIO SYSTEM.

A few things to keep in mind when designing your system:

Is the music mostly background music for day to day use or will it be the star of the show for entertaining guests?  Our standard in-ceiling speaker is more than enough for 90% of our clients.  However, once in a while, some do wish to upgrade to a  better speaker.  You can view our most popular in-ceiling speakers here.

Adding a sub-woofer.  By far, the best and easiest way to enhance your music system sound is to add a sub-woofer.  The sub doesn’t have to stand out, it can be smaller or built into the wall.  The extra bass will add bottom end depth and the music can be played much louder as the in-ceiling speakers don’t have to work as hard.

Would you like your TV audio to be heard through the in-ceiling speakers?  Because the audio from in-ceiling speakers fills the room much easier, you don’t have to turn it up as loud.  This setup can be beneficial for people who have hearing challenges or in rooms with lots of background noise such as open floor plan living rooms.
